Mixed Reality Storytelling
A New York Times R&D project exploring design patterns for mixed reality stories, journalism experienced spatially in passthrough VR headsets. We adapted the classroom airflow and ventilation visualization from our School Reopening project into an interactive, room-scale MR experience.
My contribution centered on data visualization and interaction patterns, volumetric datasets rendered as animated isosurfaces, hand-anchored cross sections, and tap triggered stream tracers. We found that by leveraging the unique affordances of the spatial medium, we could involve our audience more deeply through embodied participation and open-ended exploration of the topic.
